Le Macaron French Pastries is a French-inspired pastries and coffee shop located on Montana Ave. The store offers macarons, pastries, chocolates, locally roasted specialty coffees and other sweets. They also provide catering services for special events ranging from weddings to corporate functions.
Le Macaron French Pastries’ above and beyond energy conservation measures include accepting the 100% renewable option from CPA, effective in May 2019. Le Macaron also signed up for FlexAlert.org and other utility online tools to track water and energy usage over time, looking for sudden rises in use and ways to reduce energy demands. By reducing water flows of various sinks facility-wide to meet the required certification’s CA State CALgreen code standards, Le Macaron saves over 500 gallons of water annually.
To prevent pollution, Le Macaron contracts with an EcoWise certified Integrated Pest Management company and uses a number of Ecologo and Green Seal certified cleaners. Improvements for discarded materials management and waste separation were achieved by posting better ‘recycling’ and ‘landfill’ signage. Procuring used remanufactured copier toner cartridges, and FSC certified paper products instead of virgin paper allows Le Macaron to save trees, energy, water, and landfill space. These eco-preferred purchasing choices result in less pollution than virgin paper production. As such, one ton (40 cartons or 400 reams) of 30% post-consumer recycled content copier paper conserves 7.2 trees while 1 ton of 50% postconsumer content copier paper saves 12 trees. To reduce carbon emissions from employee work commutes, Le Macaron provides employee training on "smart driving" to reduce fuel consumption.
